Metro Dynamics launches dashboard to explore Zoomshock data

The Covid-19 pandemic has radically reshaped the UK’s economic geography. The “Zoomshock” has moved work from offices to homes, redistributing economic activity from city centres to suburban and rural areas.

There are those who argue this change is only temporary, while others believe we are seeing nothing short of a rewriting of the rules of work. Some hope that home working will deliver “levelling up” for the UK; others worry that our cities might lose their dynamism.

Metro Dynamics has been working with an academic team from the Universities of Birmingham, Nottingham, and Sheffield to draw out detailed insights on the impact across different neighbourhoods. This has produced the most granular picture thus far of the reshaping of the economy.

This data is now available to be explored via an interactive dashboard.
