Sam Barrett

Sam helps to develop place-based strategies reflecting local priorities and building on strengths identified through data analysis.

He works across our service areas, with a particular emphasis on strategy development and sector and cluster analysis. Sam has extensive expertise in quantitative and qualitative analysis across projects, including cluster analysis for the emerging economy and stakeholder engagement to inform decision making. His recent project experience includes refreshing an inclusive economy dashboard for North Ayrshire Council based on recent policy priorities, compiling a detailed evidence base for Chorley Borough Council to underpin their economic strategy, supporting on work to develop a long-term economic strategy for Herefordshire County Council, and helping to draft a Local Skills Improvement Plan for Worcestershire.  

Sam joined Metro Dynamics after completing a Masters in Economics at the University of Leeds. He previously worked at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) during his placement year whilst completing his undergraduate studies. In this role, he helped draft a monthly commentary on three different inflation measures (CPIH, PPI and HPI), and provided research support, including analysing different inflation datasets.
