Mary is focused on creating thriving local places through evidence-led strategies focused on place-based initiatives and sector development.
She is a skilled analyst who confidently utilises both quantitative and qualitative analysis across our service areas, contributing significantly to economic strategies, sector and cluster analysis, as well as stakeholder engagement and coordination support. Mary's recent work includes researching the Advanced Materials ecosystem in the North of England on behalf of the Science and Technologies Facilities Council, as well as supporting the development of an inclusive economic strategy for Bristol City Council.
Mary joined Metro Dynamics after completing her MSc in Development Economics and Policy at the University of Manchester. Her work at the University of Manchester in contemporary development economic theory, applied economics, and quantitative methods informs her work in local places. During her undergraduate studies in Economics at Newcastle University, Mary explored the effects of place-based policies on local communities, notably examining the BBC's move to Salford Quays using quantitative methods such as regression analysis.
