Alex’s work is focused on supporting sectoral growth and robust innovation ecosystems in places by providing data-driven insights that inform strategy and policy.
As a skilled analyst and problem solver, he works across a broad range of our service areas, with a focus on cluster formation, strategy development, and bespoke analysis on place dynamics. Alex excels in bringing together quantitative insights, underpinned by compelling data visualisation using tools like QGIS and PowerBI, with a strong understanding of how places work and insights from qualitative research. His recent projects include producing a cluster development roadmap to support delivery in growing an Electric Vehicles and Batteries cluster in the West Midlands and conducting comprehensive economic analyses to identify key growth barriers in South Yorkshire.
Before joining Metro Dynamics, Alex was an industry analyst at a technology consultancy, where he examined the global ecosystem of smart devices in the circular economy. During his economics degree at the University of Leeds, Alex focused on inclusive growth, policy impact analysis, urban economic development and investigating the economic implications of ageing and digital transition.
